About the Workshop
As part of the International Year of Quantum, IBM is proud to merge the Qiskit Global Summer School and the IBM Quantum Challenge to create an unparalleled learning opportunity for quantum enthusiasts worldwide. The Qiskit Global Summer School (QGSS) 2025 will be held from July 7th to July 22nd, 2025. It will take participants on a journey through the history of quantum computing: from foundational experiments and the latest developments in algorithms and techniques, to the future of quantum error correction, culminating in a final coding challenge. The QGSS 2025 Workshop serves as the grand finale of this special edition, offering participants an engaging platform to explore, discuss, and tackle the coding challenges presented during the summer school.
This two-day workshop is designed to deepen your understanding of quantum computing through practical coding exercises, collaborative discussions, and hands-on labs. Whether you’re a seasoned quantum programmer or a curious beginner, this workshop will provide an interactive platform to apply your knowledge and skills in solving the coding challenges and provide invaluable insights into quantum computing. So, join us from July 18th to July 19th, 2025, at the National Taiwan University (NTU) for an immersive and hands-on quantum computing experience.

Workshop Agenda and Timetable
Day 1 – July 18th, 2025 (Friday)**
Morning Session:
The Coding Challenge: Recreating famous quantum experiments
Dive into the origins of quantum mechanics by recreating foundational experiments that paved the way for quantum computing.
Lunch Break
Afternoon Session:
The Coding Challenge: Sampling Quantum Diagonalization (SQD) Lab
Explore the Power of Many (Samples) to estimate the energy of a chemistry Hamiltonian using SQD techniques. This hands-on lab will demonstrate how SQD can provide accurate results in quantum chemistry.
Day 2 – July 19th, 2025 (Saturday)**
Morning Session:
The Coding Challenge: Quantum Error Mitigation Challenge
Tackle practical problems in quantum computing by addressing noise and errors in quantum systems. This challenge will test your ability to mitigate errors for more reliable quantum computations.
Lunch Break
Afternoon Session:
The Coding Challenge: Quantum Error Correction (QEC) Lab
- Classical Error Correcting Code Revisit: Gain a deeper understanding of classical error correction as a foundation for quantum error correction.
- Quantum Error Correcting Codes:Learn how to design and implement error-correcting codes that are critical for the future of fault-tolerant quantum computing.
